Lumsden & District EMO Coordinator

The Lumsden & District Emergency Management Organization (EMO) comprised of the Town of Lumsden and the RM of Lumsden No. 189 are pleased to announce the appointment of Nancy Cherney as the District Emergency Coordinator, effective January 1, 2024.   

In this role, Nancy will support both the Town and the RM through development and updating of emergency plans including training; consultation and relationship building with entities having key roles in the event of an emergency, event or disaster as well as working with local industries, businesses and organizations regarding their emergency planning and preparedness; and liaising with the municipalities and others during an event.   

Nancy Cherney has been a resident of Lumsden for more than 35 years, and comes to this new role with a broad range of relevant experience including volunteer service as an emergency medical first responder for the past 13 years.  Nancy also enjoyed a lengthy and varied career with the Government of Saskatchewan, retiring from public service in 2021 as Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for operating and maintaining the province's extensive portfolio of owned and leased buildings.   

Nancy is excited to take on the new responsibilities of the District Emergency Coordinator and to helping keep residents within the Town and RM safe!
