All road maintenance work is coordinated through the Public Works Manager. The municipality is responsible for maintaining over 300 miles of road network; that’s a lot of roads to maintain!
Grading: The municipality owns 3 graders. Grading of roads is performed on a regular rotation basis with high traffic roads grid roads receiving first priority. The rotation intends to cover the municipality every 20 days, approximately. However, during wet and dry spells the frequency of grading may need to be altered. Grader work is coordinated by the Public Works Foreman. If you have a concern or question about grading, please contact the Public Works Foreman or your Division Councillor.
Gravelling: The Public Works Foreman, in conjunction with Division Councillors, determine gravelling priorities in each Division. Gravel forms a part of the municipal budget approved by Council as a whole.
Mowing Ditches: The municipality employs one Seasonal Equipment Operator to operate the mower.
A top-cut of the ditches begins approximately July 1st and is completed in approximately 6 weeks. A full-ditch cut begins approximately September 1st and is completed at the end of October. For those interested in salvaging hay from the RM right-of-way, an agreement must be signed at the municipal office.
